ChatGPT writes text. Biz Wiz builds a business.
Both are AI. One gives you a document. The other gives you a structured plan, a printable PDF, and a 90-day operating Station with your data already in it — for less than one month of ChatGPT Plus.
Bottom line: ChatGPT Plus is $20/month = $240/year, ongoing. ChatGPT Free is $0 but uses smaller models and has no memory. Biz Wiz is $19.99 once — includes a guided 5-phase session, a printable business plan, and 90-day Station access with a working mini-CRM, task tracker, scheduler, and website draft. Same model class (Claude Sonnet 4 vs GPT-4), different wrapper: Biz Wiz is purpose-built for someone starting a business who doesn't already know what to ask AI.
ChatGPT is a tool. A very good tool. You sit down, you prompt it, you steer it, you copy and paste what it produces into something else, you format it, you make it useful. The skill of getting good output is the skill of prompting well — if you have that skill, ChatGPT is basically magic.
Biz Wiz is a guided experience. You don't have to know what to ask. Larry — the AI inside Biz Wiz — walks you through five phases: Discovery (who you are), Research (what licenses you need in your state), Tools & Decisions (what you'll use to run the business), Operating Rhythm (your weekly schedule), and Plan & Delivery (the 90-day action plan). Each phase has its own job. Each phase fills in part of the picture.
ChatGPT is the most flexible general-purpose AI tool that exists. It writes copy in any tone. It brainstorms freely. It explains complex topics. If you want to roleplay an investor grilling you on your pitch, it'll do that. If you want to draft five variations of an Instagram ad, it'll do that. Biz Wiz won't — Biz Wiz is structured by design.
ChatGPT also has a free tier. Biz Wiz doesn't. Twenty dollars is twenty dollars. If you're broke and trying to figure out if a business idea is real before you spend any money, free ChatGPT can absolutely help.
ChatGPT doesn't know what you need to know. It will write you a "business plan" if you ask, but it won't catch that you forgot to ask about your state's licensing requirements. It won't push back on a weak revenue assumption. It won't remind you that you need liability insurance before your first paid job. Biz Wiz Larry has those checkpoints baked in — the legal checkpoint runs automatically if you mention existing clients.
ChatGPT also doesn't persist. Each new chat starts blank unless you've configured Memory (and even then, it's spotty). Most ChatGPT users don't realize this until they come back two weeks later asking a follow-up and discover the AI has no idea who they are. Biz Wiz saves everything: your name, business, location, tools, plan, even your starter client list and task tracker. Sixty days in, you can log back into Station and pick up exactly where you left off.
The fair flip side: there are real things ChatGPT does that Larry doesn't. We don't hide these — and when a gap matters, we close it. The list below is the honest current state.
Originally published 2026-05-23 with 9 hard limits. Six have since shipped (see green check marks); three remain open.
Closed since publication:
Intentional differences (not on the closing list):
Soft biases (not hard limits, but real):
The honest framing has tightened. As of 2026-05-23, Larry has web search, code execution, file upload (images + PDFs), voice input, and roomier conversation+response limits — the multimodal capability gap that used to favor ChatGPT is closed for business-planning use cases. What remains are intentional positioning choices: no image generation (upload your own; use a dedicated logo tool for new images), no GPT marketplace (the focused persona is the product), no Zapier integrations yet.
ChatGPT gives you words. Useful words, sometimes very good words. But they're words you have to do something with.
Biz Wiz gives you:
The plan isn't a document you go execute. The plan IS the execution surface.
If you already use ChatGPT fluently every day, you don't need Biz Wiz. Build your own prompts, set up Custom GPTs, configure Memory, you'll be fine.
If you've never started a business and you want a structured, guided experience that ends with a printable plan and a working starter kit — not text you have to assemble into something usable — Biz Wiz is built for exactly that gap.
Seven ways to turn a business idea into a plan. Cost-over-time and feature matrix side by side. Slide the horizon to see how subscriptions compound while Biz Wiz stays flat at $19.99 once.

Biz Wiz handles the planning. When the business is actually running, Nexa ($279 once) replaces the operating SaaS stack — QuickBooks, Calendly, HoneyBook, Jobber, Wave, Vagaro, etc. Different problem, different chart. $19.95 Biz Wiz credit applies toward Nexa at upgrade.

You can. ChatGPT will write you a plausible-looking business plan document if you prompt it well. The difference is what you get at the end: ChatGPT gives you text. Biz Wiz gives you a structured plan PLUS a 90-day operating Station with a mini-CRM, task tracker, scheduler, and website draft — already populated with your data. If you know how to prompt AI fluently and you only need a document, ChatGPT works. If you don't know what to ask and you want the output to BE a working setup, Biz Wiz is built for that gap.
ChatGPT Free is $0 (uses smaller models, no memory, no GPTs). ChatGPT Plus is $20/month = $240/year, ongoing forever. Biz Wiz is $19.99 once — no subscription, includes 90-day Station access, includes a printable plan. After one month of ChatGPT Plus, you've already spent more than Biz Wiz costs total.
Biz Wiz Larry runs on Claude Sonnet 4 — same model class as GPT-4. The reasoning capability is comparable. What differs isn't the model, it's the wrapper: Larry has a structured 5-phase flow, a legal checkpoint, a tools picker, and persistent state across your session and 90 days. Same horsepower, purpose-built chassis.
By default, no. Each ChatGPT conversation starts blank. ChatGPT does have a Memory feature you can enable, and you can build a Custom GPT with persistent instructions — but most users don't configure either. Biz Wiz persists everything by default: your business name, location, tools, rhythm, action plan, even your client list and tasks. Come back in 60 days, it's all still there.
Five things: (1) Guided 5-phase flow that knows what to ask if you don't, (2) Persistent structured data — your name, business, tools, plan saved to a real account, (3) A 90-day Station dashboard with mini-CRM, mission tracker, scheduler, and website draft, already populated from your conversation, (4) A printable business plan PDF auto-generated from your data, (5) A direct path to actually running the business via Nexa ($279) when you outgrow the starter setup.
Three things: (1) Free tier — Biz Wiz is $19.99, ChatGPT has a free option, (2) Breadth — ChatGPT will discuss any topic, any niche, in any tone you ask for, (3) Freeform brainstorming — if you already have the skill to prompt AI well, ChatGPT is wonderful for ideation. Biz Wiz is opinionated and structured by design — that's the value when you don't know what to ask, but it's a limitation if you do.
Absolutely. Biz Wiz handles the structured planning side — the parts where you want a checklist and a guided flow. ChatGPT (free or Plus) is great for the freeform parts: brainstorming names, writing ad copy, drafting cold emails, researching your specific niche. They don't compete head-on; they solve different shapes of problem.
Biz Wiz: $19.99 once. ChatGPT Plus: $20/month forever.
